Your Questions

What makes Galligan Family Dentistry different?

Galligan Family Dentistry is dedicated to providing your whole family, including pediatric and geriatrics, with the best quality dental care in the area. Our family-friendly approach sets us apart from other practices, and our dedication to minimally invasive procedures gives dental patients of all ages peace of mind that they are receiving the sort of dental care that we would want for ourselves and our families.

We’re also realistic. We understand that everyone has busy schedules and hope to alleviate some daily stress by providing same day emergency and often same week scheduled appointments. In addition, our comforting and soothing atmosphere can calm even the most anxious dental patients. We offer relaxation techniques and simple, pain-free procedures that will put your mind at ease about visiting the dentist.

Finally, at Galligan Family Dentistry, we’ll treat you like family, and when was the last time a dental practice made you feel so welcome and at ease? This characteristic has been our most raved about aspect of our practice and is something we greatly pride ourselves on. We are continually at work to enhance everyone’s experience with us.

What does minimally invasive mean?

Minimally invasive dentistry is a new philosophy in the field that puts the preservation of a patient’s natural teeth at the top of a dentist’s priorities. Gone are the days of extracting a problem tooth. Minimally invasive dentists strive to preserve everyone’s teeth through modern preventive techniques and diagnosing and treating potentially complicated problems long before they become severe. With recent technological developments, we are able to preserve your natural teeth more often through less painful procedures. For more information on the minimally invasive services we currently offer, see our Patient Services section.

What safety precautions do you take for your patients?

Your safety and comfort are very important to us. We ensure that our practice exceeds all ADA and CDC standards for cleanliness and safety. Every instrument is sterilized and wrapped before your visit, and we use quality, disposable products when possible. We welcome pre-appointment visits to witness our immaculate office and infection control practices.

I don’t like visiting the dentist; what can you do to help me relax?

We know that visiting the dentist isn’t your favorite thing to do, so we’ve designed our practice around patient comfort. Our friendly staff will set you at ease from the moment you walk into our inviting reception area, where you can help yourself to a drink from our complimentary beverage bar, watch a tidbit of our continuously playing fun-loving movies, or chat with our entertaining and outgoing receptionists. Once you enter our spacious and non-intimidating exam room, we can help you relax by offering XM radio through wireless headphones to take your mind off your anxieties. Our gentle attitude and touch is one of our greatest assets and we make every effort to ensure treatment is progressing at each patients pace and comfort. Adult and pediatric patients will enjoy the amenities we offer and will find it easier and more comforting to return at following visits.

We also use the WAND™, a computer controlled anesthesia instrument that is more accurate, non-intimidating, and far more comfortable than administering anesthesia with a traditional syringe like many dentist’s still do.

Going to the dentist doesn’t have to be an anxious affair, and at Galligan Family Dentistry, we’ll show you that dentistry has evolved from it’s archaic and painful past.

What age group do you specialize in working with?

We love to see patients of any age, from children to retirees – it’s the variety of patient experiences that makes our family practice most rewarding. However, our preventative focus is most beneficial to our pediatric patients due to enhancing the potential for a lifetime of dental disease free individuals. Our accommodating practice is created so that your entire family can receive dental services from the same provider without compromising anyone’s comfort, regardless of their age. We are well equipped to give early childhood check ups to pediatric patients, provide dentures to geriatric patients, and address all aspects of care you may seek for your family dentist.

My child is TWO; is that too young for a check-up?

No! Galligan Family Dentistry follows the first visit by the first birthday recommendation from the Academy of Pediatric Dentistry and will see all children for regular dental check ups. Children under 2 often are too immature for typical dental exams however the earlier a child experiences a dentist office setting, the better chance for positive experiences once becoming more mature. For our under 2 patients, we often perform parent education and counseling to supplement pediatrician advise. Many patients 2 and above are able to undergo traditional exams and professional cleanings. With our kid-friendly waiting room, complete with Xbox 360 and other fun toys and books, and great rewards and balloons, your child will look forward to coming to the dentist at every visit!
