Cavity-Free Kids’ Club

At Galligan Family Dentistry, we make every effort to establish each child’s individual risk for developing cavities and have implemented many educational and preventative practices to keep them cavity free. Prevention of dental diseases is strongly rooted in behavioral, habitual, and motivational aspects of one’s life. For young patients it is critical to establish good behaviors and habits at an early age so that mere hills need climbing instead of mountains once poor behaviors have been created. One aspect of our continued goal to motivate young patients to remain disease free is the creation of our Cavity Free Club.

Our club allows membership to those children who have established good disease prevention principles and strive to work harder on their behaviors if cavities have occurred and been repaired. Club members receive a membership certificate and gift certificate for a local children’s restaurant or ice cream shop and have their photo taken for inclusion in our wall of fame. Additionally, twice a year, we draw from our membership pool to select a grand prize winner for their continued good efforts to stay cavity free.

Since inauguration of our club in 2008, prizes have been selected based on a child’s age and gender and our first three members have received an iPod Nano, Sony PSP game system, and a LEGO remote controlled train set. Our club has brought joy and excitement not only to our children patients but our staff as well…it has been a real hit and lots of fun!
